Snoring
Gain Control of
Snoring & Sleep Apnea
Loud snoring and sleep apnea are extremely annoying and disturb both you and your sleep partner. They sap your energy and increase the possibility of a heart attack, stroke and/or high blood pressure by a factor of four. Sleep deprivation is a leading cause of auto accidents. Snoring can be a killer of dreams, relationships and yes, even people.
“30-Min. Therapy to Sleep Soundlessly”
A revolutionary new chiropractic method for the control of sleep disorders and other breathing problems has been developed. “ZHT Respiration Therapy” consists of a soft tissue massage and a simple, 90-second armchair breathing routine that rapidly floods the body with oxygen, helps restores muscle tone, and greatly increases energy levels.
Patients have reported immediate relief and state their nasal passages, throat and chest cavity are also clearer. Skin tone, voice and vision may significantly improve, as well as many annoying maladies, such as headaches, muscle and joint pain and depression have been reported to quickly subside.
Most importantly, happy spouses report they are returning to their partner’s beds, as their loud snoring is abated. All this, in just 30 minutes of treatment.
Profile of a Snorer
Typically, a snorer is overweight, and has a short, wide neck. As you age and assume a more sedentary lifestyle, e.g. bending over a computer, sitting at a work station, watching TV or driving a vehicle, your head tends to move forward in relation to your shoulders and your trachea may become pinched. Excessive pillows under your head at night accentuate the pinched positioning and can cause a restriction of the airway. Vocal cords become constricted and the muscles groups surrounding the airway tend to decrease in tone. As a result, you snore!
Dangers of Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea occurs when the airway collapses and you temporarily stop breathing or your breathing becomes very shallow while you are sleeping. Each pause typically lasts 10-20 seconds or more, and can occur 10-30 times or more per hour. When this happens, the oxygen level in your blood drops and stress or hypertension is placed on the heart. Heart stress can lead to high blood pressure, calcification of the valves, heart attack, stroke and death.
Normal breathing then starts again, with a loud snort or choking sound. You move from deep to light sleep, often awakening with a need to urinate. Poor sleep quality leads to daytime fatigue, restless legs and poor body/mind functioning, including sexual dysfunction.
Snoring and sleep apnea can affect your sleep partner’s rest pattern as well. It is not uncommon for them to seek the comfort of a separate bedroom. It should be noted that thin people can also have these sleep problems, especially when a genetic problem occurs, such as a large uvula, oversized tonsils, excessive soft tissue in the back of the throat or certain facial features.

For Today's Active Family
ZHT:A clinical modality, known as Zhou Hypoxicology Therapy, is a soft tissue and breathing protocol for the relief of mild to moderate hypoxia (oxygen deprived body tissue) conditions. The therapy straightens the trachea, stretches the vocal cords and releases muscle tension surrounding the airway. Relief is usually noted immediately within a 24 hour period, lasting at first from 1-5 days and can be extended diately or for several months or longer, through diet and exercise control. Breathing exercises are easy, quick and instantly energy enhancing. Patients report better sleep patterns, as well as a drastic reduction in snoring, sleep apnea and other sleep disorders. They also note increased vision, skin tone, voice resonance, reduced body aches, clearer mind function and ability to concentrate.
LLLT: Low Level Laser (light) Therapy is also called photoelectric therapy or cold laser. FDA approved for the repetitive treatment of pain and inflammation, its function is to assist in the restoration of proper cell function and hasten nerve repair, without drowsiness or harmful side effects.
DIET:Added weight can substantially increase your chances of snoring and sleep apnea. Smoking, alcohol and sweets should be avoided, especially before bedtime. In addition certain foods can cause allergies and your body may actually “crave” them over time. Consult Dr. Secrest, who can order testing, recommend suitable supplements and diet, and bring your body back into balance. You will sleep better, too.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I know the therapy works?
You and your sleep partner will be the best judge of the treatment's success. You will quickly observe if you are waking less during the night, making less nocturnal trips to the bathroom and waking more rested in the morning. Expect to have more energy during the day too.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments will vary from patient to patient and depends largely on the degree of you sleep disorder and the extent of your oxygen deprived condition. It will also depend on your own level of cooperation. However, experience tells us that results are usually quick and ofter occur starting with the first therapy session. If positive results do not occur within 3 sessions, the doctor will usually recommend they be discontinued.
Does my insurance cover the cost?
Because this is a relatively new clinical procedure, it is not covered by health insurance. Therefore, to provide you with every opportunity to be properly aligned, therapeutically strengthened and trained in the application of this technique, we have created an economical cash package, with unlimited tune-up visits & breathing instruction for one year, starting from the date of your examination and first therapy. Should the doctor determine that you are not a candidate for this therapy or should he recommend treatments be discontinued, the unused portion of your payment package will be refunded.
How about other chronic conditions?
Patients and other doctors using this technique report clinical success for assisting the relief of chronic conditions, such as fibromyalgia, menopause, PMS, depression, headaches and migraines. Ask us for a brochure on your specific condition. Again, you will be the best judge of the treatment’s success.
