Scottsdale chiropractor treats back pain during pregnancy

Scottsdale Chiropractor Eases Back Pain During Pregnancy

More than half of all women suffer back pain during pregnancy. Extra weight on the belly stresses back and pelvis joints, extending the natural curve of the spine beyond its normal position, which can pinch nerves. If a woman has had any previous back problems, they usually become worse during pregnancy. Our Scottsdale chiropractor, Dr. Daniel Secrest, DC can help pregnant women find relief without harmful painkillers, through regular low-impact and comfortable chiropractic adjustments and massage.

Using the Low-Force, Applied Kinesiology Based Technique, called Koren Specific Technique (KST), Dr. Secrest helps expectant mothers feel better, be more energetic and less stressed. This is a particular method of spinal adjustment that is gentle and effective and does not involve any twisting, popping or cracking. The reason this technique is so helpful for expectant mothers is because it can be performed while standing, sitting or moving. That way, the doctor can more accurately determine where the pain originates--while the patient is in motion--so the doctor can administer a more precise adjustment. This can help pregnant women stay more active and comfortable as their bodies change. Keeping the spine properly aligned during expectancy also helps a woman's body prepare more effectively for an easier childbirth, because the nervous system is able to function at its top level.

Massage Therapy for Expectant Mothers in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Paradise Valley, and Fountain Hills, and Phoenix, AZ

Our massage therapy services have also helped many expectant moms successfully deal with the common muscle aches, pains and stresses experienced during this amazing nine months. Massage therapy helps to relax musculoskeletal tensions and relives pain by releasing endorphins (the body's own painkilling hormones) into the bloodstream. Massage increases circulation, which brings more healing nutrients to sore muscles while ushering out accumulated, tension causing toxins. Massage can also brighten and focus an expectant mom's mental and emotional outlook as she prepares to take on the challenges of delivery and motherhood.

In addition to spinal adjustments and massage, we also provide exercise, lifestyle and nutritional counseling for expectant mothers. Although each woman's needs require a personal evaluation, Dr. Secrest generally recommends a regular low impact exercise program (walking or swimming) and well-rounded nutrition, including an absolute minimum of 400 micrograms of folic acid daily.

We invite all expectant moms to call us at (480) 994-4411 to schedule an appointment so we can help make this special time more comfortable, healthy and enjoyable. Want to "just talk" first? We offer a free consultation with Dr. Dan before you begin your examination and first adjustment on a fee basis in accordance with your insurance plan.

Note: No promises or claims are made by the doctor, office staff or the corporation for the cure of any disorder, disease or condition.
